With more demands and what seems like less time in our workdays, we are all looking for ways to increase productivity. Here are 7 simple tips to give you back some control over your workday and help you be more productive.
- Create a to-do list.
Before you start each day, make a list of what you need to do. This keeps you on task and can help you refocus when you keep your list in front of you while you work. We recommend making a list on a piece of paper so that it is always visible.
- Take a break.
It seems we all overwork ourselves and don’t realize when we need a break. Give yourself a break when you realize you are overwhelmed, stressed, start to lose concentration or just need to clear your mind.
- Eliminate distractions.
Social media notifications make it easy to be constantly distracted. To avoid constant distractions, turn off notifications on your phone and computer, except for very important appointment reminders. It is easy to get distracted by a notification and after 20 minutes you realize that you have completely lost focus.
- Sleep early and wake up early.
Take a look at every top executive, CEO or successful business person and you will see that they all have one main thing in common, they get up early. Getting up early gives them time to start the morning without being rushed and limited by time. Going to bed early allows them to rest and recharge to start the next day.
- Focus on one thing at a time.
We’ve all heard that multitasking is detrimental to productivity. It reduces the performance of any task we do when we are not fully focused. Studies have shown that our brains become tense when we are constantly switching from multiple tasks at the same time. Would you rather complete one task with excellent results or 3 things with mediocre results?
- De-clutter and organize your environment.
When you work in a cluttered environment, it creates unnecessary stress on your mind and body. Clean up your workspace so you can stay focused and more productive. In addition to productivity, life balance is also very important. When we find balance in our lives, we perform better and actually become happier individuals.
If you apply these points, a change in your life is sure to happen. Applying them all at once can become like in point 5. So if you apply them one by one without straining yourself, you will complete the path without getting tired.
